What we Believe

We are a congregation of the

Presbyterian Church
in America

At Heritage, we seek to be a church deeply rooted in Jesus, bearing the fruit of the Spirit together for the glory of God and the good of all, for the generations to come.

Our beliefs are most fully articulated in the Westminster Standards, which you can find here. We describe our mission as a church in this way:

Celebrating Grace

Worship is the heartbeat of the Christian life. When we meet to worship God, because of Christ, in and through the Holy Spirit, we believe that God’s people receive his grace through the gracious means he has appointed. These ordinary means of grace are the reading and preaching of the Word, the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and prayer. God is glorified when we come to worship acknowledging our need for God’s grace, and respond together to the grace God gives with grateful praise.

Nurturing Growth

At Heritage, we are invested in one another because we belong to this local expression of God’s family. As we grow together as disciples who enjoy one another and value the truth that unites us, speaking truth to one another in love, and exercising our spiritual gifts for the good of our brothers and sisters, we bear witness to the Holy Spirit at work within us. It brings God glory when believers dwell in unity and grow together in the grace and knowledge of our Savior, Jesus, passing the faith down through the generations.

Loving Neighbors

Our Savior mercifully came down from heaven and stepped into our world of problems and concerns to save us from sin and death. This fills our hearts with gratitude for his mercy and compels us to show mercy to those suffering and in need. As the Holy Spirit conforms us to the image of the Son, we bear fruit that shows up in loving our neighbors as ourselves. As Heritage obeys God by loving our neighbors, both those within the household of faith and those still lost in their sin, we bear witness to the greater mercy of the gospel and gain avenues to proclaim the good news beyond our church.

Praying, Sending, Going

We are passionate about the work of missions. As Heritage engages with the community at our doorstep and in the world beyond Warrenton, we want to be a praying people, looking to Jesus for how he would have us reach others near and far with the love of Christ and the good news of his grace. We pray about our place in God’s local and global mission with hearts open to how he leads us to send and to go. As we pray, send, and go, locally and globally, we fulfill the Great Commission to see the full number of God’s family brought in by faith to experience the fullness of God in Jesus.

Pastoral Leadership

Rev. Dan Warne

Lead Pastor

Dan received pastoral training at Westminster Seminary California. Before coming to Heritage, he served as a pastor in California and hosted a Spanish Christian radio broadcast airing in Cuba and around the world.

Dan grew up on the mission field in Sinaloa, Mexico, where he met his wife, Mariana. They married in 2011 and have two girls. Dan enjoys fishing, missions trips, and exploring the international food scene in NoVa with family and friends.

One of Dan’s greatest passions is showing people how the whole Bible is all about Jesus, and how the whole of the Christian life is walking by faith in Jesus, who really meant it when he said “It is finished.”

Heritage meets weekly for worship at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays. Sunday School for all ages begins around 11:30 a.m. All meetings are at our church facility, which is located at 7850 Millfield Drive, Warrenton, VA 20187.

We have no dress code, written or unwritten, at Heritage. Many folks wear jeans. Some men wear dress pants and blazers, and some women wear dresses. Please wear wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable.
Our worship service is meant to tell the story of the Gospel to us each week. Each week, God calls us to worship him from his Word, we sing his praises, and we pray to him. We also confess our sins and hear God assure us of his forgiveness in Christ. We give our tithes and offerings in response to his grace, and we hear his Word, which teaches us what to believe and how we should live as God’s people. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper weekly, and God sends us out each week with his blessing.
At Heritage, we sing a blend of old and new songs. Older songs help us remember that we are part of a long story, and many Christians have preceded us. Newer songs remind us that God is still at work and teaching us what it means to worship him. We strive to sing songs that are theologically faithful, congregationally singable, culturally accessible, and emotionally honest.
Heritage welcomes all baptized believers who are members of churches that preach the Gospel to receive the Lord’s Supper with us.
At Heritage, we take the Bible very seriously. Sermons are meant to help us understand who we are and who Jesus is more fully. Each week, we learn to connect our daily lives to the Gospel. Sermons last around 25 minutes.

If you are interested in becoming a member at Heritage, we welcome you attend one of our Discover Heritage classes, which are offered a few times each year. For more information, please contact the Church Secretary.
